Butch Reed pins George South with a top rope clothesline
Kevin Sullivan and Mike Rotunda d. Randy Hogan and Gene Miller when Rotunda pins Miller with a double arm suplex
Eddie Gilbert and Ricky Steamboat d. Barry Windham and Ric Flair when Steamboat pins Flair with a cross body block
The big news on this show is of course Ricky Steamboat coming back and pinning Ric Flair in his first match back. This will shape the first 4 months of the year. Steamboat ultimately kind of fails at the top but it produces some great matches along the way. Steamboat's family man angle seems forced, even on the first episode.
Hayes/Assassin was a surprisingly watchable match. I was really dreading it but it was a fun 6 minute match. It had a pretty quick tempo and some decent action.
They laid a little groundwork last week but this week has them starting to push the Road Warriors vs. Varsity Club as a feud. I don't know where that leaves the Road Warriors. Are they faces or heels? Don't really know. Those will be bad matches but the buildup should be good and the fans will buy into it a lot.
